NMTA member boatyards are 61% cleaner since 2010. 150 days of selective fishing opportunity for hatchery-marked Chinook and Coho have been added for recreational anglers since 2007, and shrimp and crab angling opportunities have increased by 30% since 2010. I hope these numbers get your attention.  This is great news because boatyards and recreational fishing are vital to recreational boating and your business.

I mention boatyards and fishing in the same paragraph because both are highly regulated activities and both have required extra effort from NMTA.  Washington boatyards operate under the toughest permit in the United States. Washington state fishing policy is extremely complicated and involves numerous federal and state agencies, tribal and commercial interests, multiple states, and Canada.

It is absolutely critical for our northwest recreational boating industry to have boatyards and fishing opportunities and that is why NMTA helped start the Clean Boating Foundation and Fish Northwest. It is no exaggeration to say every NMTA member benefits from the work done by Clean Boating Foundation and Fish Northwest.

For the past five years NMTA has produced a spring auction to raise on average $50,000 each year towards these worthwhile causes. The proceeds were donated equally to Fish Northwest and Clean Boating Foundation. This year’s NMTA Auction is scheduled for Friday, April 21 at the Seattle Marriott - Waterfront.

On behalf of everyone involved, I hope you will consider making a donation or become a table captain to the NMTA Auction for Clean Boating Foundation & Fish Northwest. Your generous donation will help our team continue to support this important work.

If you have any questions please contact me personally or our Auction Coordinator, Kate Anderson. You can call 206-634-0911 or email us:  george@nmta.net or kateanderson@nmta.net.
